30 ans déjà !

17.09.2016 to 18.09.2016

Anniversary Week-end / September 17th and 18th

This year, La Villa du Parc, the French contemporary art center in Annemasse (Haute-Savoie) celebrates thirty years of exhibitions and artistic experiments.

La Villa du Parc was founded in 1986 by artists and community leaders who, in the national context of the cultural decentralization policy, aimed to provide to Annemasse with a place of expression for today’s visual and artistic practices. Ideally located in a nineteenth-century bourgeois residence in the middle of a park, it is part of the rich artistic ecosystem of the Greater Geneva area.

Supporting the creation of artworks is one of the Villa du Parc’s main missions. It is also committed to offering a program of events that reflects the diversity of contemporary artistic practices (painting, drawing, photography, video, writing, etc.) through 4 to 5 exhibitions a year and events on and off site.

In three decades, the contemporary art center introduced more than 1000 artists of diverse nationalities, produced over 200 original artworks and gained recognition as a center for professionalization and artistic innovation at the local, national and international level. Fulfilling the public service mission of raising the public’s awareness of contemporary art  is at the heart of its project : over 240 000 persons including more than 100 000 students have visited exhibitions at La Villa since its creation.

La Villa du Parc is managed by a non-profit organization of around 160 members chaired since 2011 by Franco-Swiss collector Pascal Diethelm and a board composed of artists, professionals, local residents and public partners. The art center is directed since 2012 by Garance Chabert, art historian and curator, member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) and of the board of the National Association DCA  (French Art Centers Development) with a team of three employees.
